Generally, the minimum clearance between an impeller and the housing/enclosure is about 0.25% of the impeller diameter.
Multi-arc blades and NACA airfoils are often applied to the centrifugal fans to enhance their aerodynamic performance. However, it is hard to meet the design requirements for this type of fan with a customary single-arc blade. This article proposes a parameterized design method using the modified Hicks-Henne function and a Kriging agent model, which enables the designer to optimize the blade shape of a multi-blade centrifugal fan and achieve better results.
